About this deal

This is my least favorite method because most ovens don’t get below 170 degrees and lemon balm should ideally be dried at 95 degrees to maintain its potency.

Fortunately, lemon balm has many uses and today, I’m sharing over a dozen things to do with this prolific little gem. This is a great stomach soothing, anti-viral concoction, perfect to take when you feel like you’re coming down with a cold or bug. This aromatic member of the mint family has a bright, citrusy taste that brings together the acidity of lemon with subtle hints of mint!

Once your lemon balm is clean, pick off any spent, dead or diseased leaves that you don’t want ending up in your medicinal herbs and tinctures. Lemon balm is a perennial herb in the mint family that’s hardy in zones 3-7 and easy to grow in any garden. If you are in any doubt, give the leaves a little more time in the oven, as leaves that are not fully dried out will develop mould.

Homemade lemon balm tea can be made using fresh leaves or dried leaves right from lemon balm plants in your own backyard garden. If you grow your own lemon balm plant and it is free of pesticides, there is no need to wash the plant before using it or drying it.

I live in the desert in Arizona with an abundance of wildlife that likes to snatch up plants so I grow mine mostly indoors in a grow tent with 300 watts of light and my Lemon Balm plants and Peppermint Plants have just take off like you wouldn’t believe. Dry the lemon balm by spreading it out on a paper towel and blotting gently to remove any surface moisture. TIP Gently wipe the inside clean with a dry cloth to remove any residual herb dust before using again. Thoroughly washing the lemon balm ensures that your herbs will be free of any dirt or insects from the garden. I just bought my first lemon balm plant and will by tucking it into a nice (and large) pot I just happen to have.

Rose petals are soothing to your senses and your skin, while lemon balm can be helpful for itchy or inflamed skin.
