About this deal

Maple: Offering a brighter tone with more high end, Maple fretboards also wear over time which can be attractive if you want your axe to look lived-in. The Les Paul Special VE comes standard with the legendary Locktone™ Tune-o-matic bridge and Stopbar tailpiece for easy set up. Compared to single coils in general they sound a lot better with distortion and produce a lot less background noise making it easier to hear what you are playing when you lay on the gain. If you have any recommendations, tips, or feedback, just leave a comment, I would love to chat with you. The only thing I would have asked for here is to have a volume and tone knob for each pickup instead of the master controls.

I'm very glad that you gave attention to those guitars, in a few years, many of today's gear snobs will recognize Epiphone's place as great instrument makers, along side the "Big Boys" . During that learning process, he will make mistakes, but those are also inexpensive to repair and provide a crucial learning lesson: NO ONE gets it perfect the first time. Some may think sports provide some of those life lessons too, but with guitar, you don't risk critical injury or regular public humiliation. This guitar has a great vintage vibe, owed in part to its faded black, semi-gloss finish, that not only looks great but also adds a ‘broken-in’ feel as though it has been played for years, which makes the guitar a little smoother and easier to play. When some of us first started playing guitar, we were a little snobbish about brands like Epiphone and Squier.

These famous pickups provide a warm tone in the neck position, and a slightly hotter tone in the bridge/lead position. Everything hardware-wise on this guitar does its job well and that's what you want, especially on a beginner/ budget-oriented guitar like this. They can be a springboard toward learning electronics, circuit design and even some computing basics. There are just a few (very) minor blemishes in the finish, but they are only apparent upon close inspection- nothing to worry about.June 24, 2020 ESP LTD EC-1000 Review – The Greatest Metal Guitar June 10, 2020 Yamaha Pacifica 012 Review – In-Depth Tested September 26, 2021 Ibanez GRGM21 Mikro Review – OK Quality June 27, 2020 Fender American Performer Stratocaster Review – Is Made in US Worth it? Featuring two P90 Pro Soapbar pickups rather than only one pickup like the Junior has, means you also benefit from neck volume and neck tone controls. I run it through a fender champion 40 on the clean channel where it really brings out the glassy clean epiphone tone! This is not the sort of 'action' that you get from the audience after the show when you're lead guitarist in an '80s rock band.

And as for sound, these dual-humbuckers produce rich, warm, and clear sounds, and just like the PAF originals featured in the original LP, these pickups can be very aggressive and cutting when you need them to be. Tremolo bridges are usually set up as "floating" which means that if you push or pull on the tremolo bar you are able to change the pitch of the note or chord that you are playing. The highs might be a bit harsher than I’d prefer, but for the most part, I thought it was really well-balanced.Ebony: similar to maple in tone and sturdier than rosewood, ebony fretboards offer a darker-looking neck with a brighter tone. Other than some of my own personal opinions on the pickups, I can’t think about anything wrong or detrimental about this guitar, it seriously is a great playing piece of gear. It’s not a flashy hotrod kind of axe, but anyone who’s into more austere vibes will appreciate its simple beauty.
